Visiting New York City can be expensive. But just because you have a limited budget doesn’t mean you can’t visit there and still have a good time. See all the sights you want to see, eat at the restaurants you want to, do what ever you want to, and still have enough money left over for a theater show or other event. What’s the secret? Do as the native New Yorkers do.

For example, the  Staten Island Ferry runs to Liberty Island in about twenty minutes and costs nothing for a round trip. You can visit the Statue of Liberty and have plenty of money for other things. And, while on the ferry, be sure to take a good look at the great New York City skyline.

After you return from your ferry ride, a wonderful part of Old New York is available to you for a short walk up to South Street Seaport, where you can find plenty of free street entertainment and food pushcarts where you can buy a hot dog, or great New York pretzels or shish kebab with the money you saved on the ferry ride.

• Greenwich Avenue awaits your visit! Sample the Mexican food there, and do a bit of people watching, while you sip a tasty margarita.
• The famous Fulton Fish Market in the Bronx, a great place for your favorite seafood dish.
• Greenwich Village with it’s terrific Italian eateries, and reasonably priced.
•  A sample of a real New York Pizza at John’s Pizzeria, or any of the other Pizza Shops.
• The East Village, where you can find Ukranian food at reasonable prices.
• How could you pass up Chinatown? A plethora of inexpensive places to eat, loads of things to see, shops for buying a gift for someone special back home.
• Dining in New York is a terrific experience, and you probably don’t want to pass up a chance to taste the fine cuisine of any one of the many New York City restaurants.
